This Post Makes My Life Look More Interesting Than It Really Is

In an effort to avoid writing and thinking about something work-related that's really bothering me this week, here's:

Ten Things I've Done that You Probably Haven't

1. Taken a Czech language class.
2. Dated (and married) someone I met on the internets.
3. Had my mother involuntarily committed.
4. Been followed by a private investigator.
5. Had sex at an outdoor concert.
6. Paid over $2,000 for a dog.
7. Told a Dept. of Public Safety officer at my university to fuck off.
8. Dressed up like Boy George for a '84 Culture Club concert.
9. Chased after a man who mugged me at gunpoint (I was drunk, and I wanted my purse back!)
10. Renewed my wedding vows with an Elvis impersonator in Vegas.

(Found at and eventually inspired by Pilgram/Heretic, Dr. K., jo(e), Musey, Scrivener, Dr. H, profgrrrrl, and Dr. Crazy)

I would PAY to see a picture of you dressed up as Boy George. For real! That's awesome! :) You're the coolest professor I know!

comment by Garnet at 12:59 PM on 02.25.05

Hmmmm.... I've done 2 of these... :D

And I'd also pay to see the Boy George photo....

comment by Advice At Your Own Risk at 01:29 PM on 02.25.05

that's looks like a fun list to make, but i can't even thing of 5 things i've done that other people haven't! you have a much more exciting life than i do :)

comment by geeky at 02:20 PM on 02.25.05

You're right - I've not done any of these. Too bad, some of them sound like fun!

comment by musey_me at 02:40 PM on 02.25.05

Can I guess which two Dr.K has done?

comment by j.tonic at 03:18 PM on 02.25.05

j.tonic--go for it!

comment by Advice At Your Own Risk at 03:36 PM on 02.25.05

you totally just cemented your place in my heart as "hero."

;)

comment by Kelly at 03:41 PM on 02.25.05

What a list. I haven't done any of them. Are we going to hear some of the stories?

comment by jo(e) at 04:39 PM on 02.25.05

Awesome list!

The only one I've done is #4, although I've done half of #2.

Wait...that doesn't look right....

comment by Whitters at 05:15 PM on 02.25.05

Boy George photo!
And what kind of dog?

comment by dr sniffly at 05:58 PM on 02.25.05

I hope I wasn't at that same outdoor concert! :)

comment by Em at 06:47 PM on 02.25.05

Hey, I think I was at that concert. What were you wearing? In the beginning, I mean, before the whole interlude with my friend Julio and the seven skinheads guarding the entry to the cavern under the bleachers ...

comment by cut-rate parasite at 12:04 AM on 02.26.05

Wow, Prof. Homegirl ...

... is it odd that I've actually done half of your list myself?

... or is that just a "You know you're from Flint when ..." thing??

I'm gonna have to steal this meme right now, b/c I'm in VA and it's just after 1ish a.m. and YOU KNOW I'm still up ... even though Phyl passed out.

I MISS YOU and have some promising news to share with you, and may need your Big SistaProf advice ... along with Dr. K's ... once I get a chance to type it all to ya.

*mwah*

Love from D.C. ...

comment by motorcitybadkitty at 01:37 AM on 02.26.05

Wow, the closest I come to any of those is wanted to have my mother involuntarily committed and writing a check to someone who possibly speaks another language.

comment by Jesse at 05:43 PM on 02.26.05

Ummm...#2 and #7 (twice). And I learned some Czech from my grandmother when i was a kid-but I don't remember any of it.

comment by Manic Witch at 05:57 PM on 02.26.05

Wow, #3 must have been really hard - you have my respect for surving that ! (and yay for Czech)

comment by New Kid on the Hallway at 04:30 PM on 02.27.05

You are correct. I have not done any of those. But I do have a few delicious skeletons in my closet. Well, maybe just one skeleton.... or acutally more like just one bone.... a finger-sized bone. Sheesh, my life sucks.

comment by Gweny at 01:29 PM on 03.02.05

Hi,

I'm collecting links to these at my website and just added yours:

They're kind of addictive, aren't they?

Cheers,
