My Dog Has a Dunkin Donuts Fan Base

Every Saturday morning on the way to dog playgroup we stop to get coffee at Dunkin' Donuts. Once in a while we get up and go on Sundays, too. The women who work the drive-thru are enamored with Zuzu as she hangs out the half-open driver's side window in the back seat. A few weeks ago one of the women asked, "Can your dog have a donut?!" We assumed she meant a donut hole because that's what employees would give Maisy every now and then.

Nope. The woman emerged with a full-sized old-fashioned cake donut. And as she reached out to hand it to our dog Zuzu, being the nutty anti-dog she is, couldn't decide if she wanted it and instead sniffed it so long the woman became tired of waiting and simply tossed the entire donut into the backseat of the car.

Thus began the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru routine.

I don't really like DD coffee. I've tried to... my students like it.

Next time you get, "can't she have one of these?!" Just kind of smack it while it's flying in the air so it flies back at the person who threw it.

I guess you can't really do that AND go back again for coffee in the future, eh?

Resistance is futile.

i hate to say it, my daisy do is the same way. she had people trained in our old neighbourhood. they would give her cookies on our walk everyday. it got to the point that i felt like she was a cookie whore.

i'm so glad we don't have DD here. i'm sure daisy would have the girls just as enamered as zuzu.

and just wait, soon you will have a new puppy for them to spoil! you are in such trouble!

j - I AM REJECTED?!?! Or just my suggestion? If I am rejected, speak to the left hand, 'cuz you ain't right... If it's in reference to rejecting the donut, then lmao. :)

Mmmm, I love me some DD coffee. I miss it. We have them in NYC, but none very close to my house. There's something about the cream they use...

I outright refuse to make coffee at home now. Not sure exactly when or why I started doing it but I think it had something to do with quitting smoking. So when we want coffee we usually go down the mesa to the Starbucks or Krispy Kreme, the only Dunkin Doughnuts is way, way across the river. The Krispy Kreme ladies give Winter a whole regular cake doughnut too! But she can eat that in one bite whereas I can't help thinking that an entire doughnut is almost bigger than Miss Zuzu's whole head so she probably would be happier with a doughnut hole instead.

all of these drive throughs are giving away stuff for the dogs. My bank gives Trusty boy treats... and Starbucks coffee gives away treats as well. He racks up every time we go out.

When we lived near Louisville, the Taco Bell people used to give Clancy a cup of chicken meat whenever we went throught the drive in. You know, that was the only place where the dog didn't go completely nutso about people reaching towards the car. When we lived in Ohio, the bank people always gave our Shelties dog biscuits - they kept a bowl of them next to the lollipops. :-)

Hahahah! Lucky ZuZu!

DD has some good coffee! However the person who likes KK must have exceptionally good coffee, because the one by us hands out coffee that tastes old and burnt, like it's been sitting on the burner forever. I always thought if KK and Starbucks merged, that would be kick-ass.

Our morning ritual, dog Sam and I, is to walk to DD. He waits outside while I go in and get my cofee (in the winter we do drive thru). It wasn't long until the people working there noticed and now he gets a munchkin every morning, which I suppose is not as bad as a whole donut every morning. And do all banks do that (keep a supply of dog biscuts)? Sam gets like 5 cookies every time I go through the drive threw. If I don't bring him with me they send some how for him. Very sweet. He's only 3 now, and the weight thing isn't an issue, but someday I think it will get to be a little too much especially with his breed.
