The move 2 weeks ago went relatively smoothly (no move is completely uneventful). Nothing major got broken or ruined so I'm happy.
We've been here 16 days now and are still living out of boxes. My underwear is in a shopping bag. The towels sit in a clothesbasket. Mr. Cheeky was relieved to find an entire box of clean clothes last night so he didn't have to do laundry. We slept with the mattress on the floor for the first few nights. You get the idea.
She and her husband (and sister, who lives in a neighboring state) are coming over for Thanksgiving dinner so we need to get our shit together in the next 72 hours. Eeeek!

Since we've been here we've noticed many more things our dubious flipper guys did half-assed. Mr. Cheeky says I need to stop dwelling on it but hey, my therapist says ruminating is normal for someone with anxiety issues. I'll save the specifics for later (and hopefully with some pics). Still, we love it. No buyer's remorse so far, either.
The dogs have finally adjusted to living here. Zuzu loves to lie on the floor in all the sunlight that comes streaming through the many windows. She moves as the sun shifts. It's rather amusing. Linus enjoys having more room to chase his ball around inside.
The neighbors have, for the most part, been extraordinary. Industrial Engineering Guy who lives next door stopped by early one evening to introduce himself and invite me over for a glass of wine (Mr. Cheeky was still at work). He's lived here for 8 years and shared some history on the house and the woman who used to live here. He also offered to give Mr. Cheeky a key to his garage so he can let himself in to borrow any tools he wants at anytime. Industrial Engineering Guy also told me the neighbor next to him has a snowblower and does a few neighbors' sidewalks/driveways out of the goodness of his heart, and that if I were to buy him a nice bottle of booze he'd do the same for us. And the only couple we actually know around here--because they take their dog to the same playgroup as ours--stopped by our third night here with a welcome basket for us.
Hardly-Ever-Home Woman across the street has been by twice now. That's not counting yesterday when she graciously left her leaf blower on our front porch for us to use. And Mr. Cheeky already has a new neighborhood friend, a stay-at-home dad who lives down the block and walks his dogs and/or kids regularly in front of our house. We've been told the Fire Chief, who lives across from us in the other direction, has a bit of an attitude (as in, "Hey! I'm the Fire Chief! Aren't I important?") so it's no surprise we haven't met them.
Our neighborhood is near the downtown area of this small town so there's a lot of "action." Action means everything from punk ass yoots driving their punked out cars too fast down our side street (although the cops have already stopped 2 of them), to lots of people walking their dogs (yay!), and lots of folks walking to and from the 5 churches a few blocks up on Sundays. I've already been reduced to stopping by one of the church's holiday bake sales. And I don't do churches. And there's a Christmas craft bazaar next weekend at another one. I'm scaring myself living here.
We have a new sofa (delivered yesterday) and a new dining table (with no matching chairs yet). The amount of money we've spent on "little things" (tension rods, chain pulls, door handles, utility rugs, etc.) is easily over a thousand. How does this happen?!
There is also a new development...a leak in the kitchen. Coming from the ceiling where the pipes are for our forced water heating system. Yesterday morning we found a lake on our kitchen counter. Mr. Cheeky spent the better part of the day cutting holes in our walls to look at pipes to try and determine where the leak is. As of yet, we still don't know but of course now that we have giant holes in our frickin' walls the leak seems to have stopped. Grrrrr.
And speaking of the leak, it's time for me to head downstairs, check on the leak, and sit in the sunny dining room to have a bit of breakfast, and head out for the day. (And I promise to catch up with all of your blogs soon!)

wow, it sounds like you moved into a great neighborhood! my family and i have moved several times, and we've never lived in a neighborhood that friendly. and i have to say i LOVE your new sofa. can you tell me where you bought it? someday when i could afford one, i want one just like it.
Yeah, your neighborhood sounds totally idea. And they say Americans don't care about community anymore.
It sounds like a great neighborhood - M and I have lived in the same apartment building for two years (6 apartments) and we've never even seen some of the neighbors, much less talked to them.
Also, your new couch is gorgeous!!
Wow! I love the new look!
Our two bathrooms got the holes the other fall when we developed a mystery leak (it was finally found in the main stack which is now mostly replaced). Ended up with nice new walls in the upstairs half bath, though!
