1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before? Received multiple job offers. Moved across country with someone instead of alone.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Bah. I don't do resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes; two old friends from grad school (including her) and a friend from my recently departed job.
4. Did anyone close to you die? My grandfather (my last living grandparent).
5. What countries did you visit? None this year.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? Serenity.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The day we sold our old house and the day we closed on this one because they represent an ending and a new beginning.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Leaving old Asshat University and accepting, starting, and enjoying job at New School surviving and keeping my sanity.
9. What was your biggest failure? Losing faith in myself for a bit.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not really (although I had a tonsillectomy!).
11. What was the best thing you bought? Um, a house. Second place goes to my Saturn View.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Mr. Cheeky for being so supportive of everything. Also, new colleagues who have been incredibly great. I hope they know how much I appreciate it.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? That of people who should have done a better job of sticking up for me during the whole tenure fiasco.
14. Where did most of your money go? Selling our old place (ouch) and buying this one. Oh, and moving expenses.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? New job. New adoption plans.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? Amy Winehouse-- Rehab.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) [a bit] thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? same
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Taking care of myself. Spending time outdoors. Reading.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Stressing. Feeling out of control.
20. How did you spend Christmas? With Mr. Cheeky and the doggies, being lazy and having a wonderful day.
21. Did you fall in love in 2007? Already there.
22. What was your favorite TV program? Continues to be LOST (but Private Practice was my favorite new program).
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Odd question, but nope.
24. What was the best book you read? Life Doesn't Frighten Me (a gift from a friend).
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? The Dan Band's The Christmas Flip Flop
26. What did you want and get? New, more positive, outlook on life.
27. What did you want and not get? I'd hoped to have our home study started if not completed by now but, in the grand scheme of things, nothing.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? Sicko.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Dinner out with Mr. Cheeky; I turned 39 (eeek).
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Telling about 10 people at Asshat U to go fuck themselves.
31. What kept you sane? Mr. Cheeky.
32. What political issue stirred you the most? Too busy to be stirred by political things this year.
33. Who was the best new person/people you met? Our 'backyard' (home-brewing!) neighbors.
34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007? Things really do have a way of working themselves out.
