RBOC: Happy and Not-so-Happy

Mr. Cheeky turns 40 today!!! Happy birthday, honey. I love you! And I'm oh so glad you turned 40 before me. ;-)

In much less cheerful news, my brother's girlfriend's step-father was killed in a horrible car accident last evening. My mom called me, hysterical, because my brother had called her from the hospital, hysterical. I feel really bad for my brother's girlfriend. Besides the obvious reasons of how much it sucks to have someone you love die, let alone die suddenly and expectedly in a horrible way, she also doesn't have the most supportive family (doesn't have a relationship with her biological dad) and she was really close to him.

Check out this hilarious under bed lighting I found (accidentally--no, really, accidentally) on Amazon. The perfect gift for the tween punk and/or pimp in your life.

I have got to stop dicking around so much on Facebook. Seriously. What's my problem? I have home study paperwork to complete.

Speaking of adoption stuff, last night I spoke with an adoptive parent who went through the same adoption program and adopted from the same country as we're going to do. She shared some very useful info with me and some disturbing stuff, too, such as the rude comments complete strangers make to her. I've read about this on numerous message boards but it still makes my blood boil every time I hear about these things. My favorite from the woman I spoke with last night (who describes herself "as Midwest as they come, blonde hair and green eyes"), was how a woman approached her and her child in the grocery store and said to her, "What did you do to get such a dark baby?" Really??? WTF?

I think we're finally getting some spring weather here. Yay! Of course, doggies are coming in with muddy paws but it's worth it. BTW, we keep the Paw Plunger at the back door for such occasions.

So is it possible to have ass chaffing from my first (short) bike ride the other day? Just askin'. Ouch.
